11-10-07 To see lots of photos, go a web space I have created, just for the purpose of sharing photos with other people, at the link photosasg.spaces.live.com.
05-08-07 J.S.Bach, Toccatas, BWV 910-916. By Glenn Gould (piano), preferably. Venus -- with Peter O’Toole performing himself (!) –-, a movie which has been mostly unnoticed. (With the great British actor at his best, even if he is over his 70’s). Yet, more photos… The Getty Centre/Gardens. The west coasts of Portugal and of Southern California are so much alike that, if I didn’t know where I took some photos, I couldn’t tell, just by looking at them, where they come from. Even the vegetation is similar. The Portuguese one is maybe a little bit more “acute”.
20-05-07 The poem, by W.B.Yeats, “When You Are Old” (just below). Look at the photos of Frankfurt and of impressive places in Mexico (look
back for photos of Portugal too) 02-04-07 Making a trip with your best friend, who is absolutely determined in accomplish a “sociological study” on “Hamburgers in the US” - which “obliged” her to try every single “kind” of hamburger-- when you absolutely hate hamburgers!!!! Walking by the seaside (some new photos may give a rough idea of the sort
of places I have in mind). 01-04-07 “Hoje roubei todas as rosas dos jardins Eugénio de Andrade 16-02-07 A happy New Year! I don't want to miss thanking all my friends for having been present on December 27 last year (to celebrate the 11th). Will never forget that unique dancing party! A very touching moment. Thank you. J.S. Bach. Cantatas. Go slowly through all of them (many, many, CDs). Some of them are simply sublime; all of them are masterpieces of our species. Diáspora Sefardí (romances e música intrumental) -- Hespèrion XXI -- by Montserrat Figueras (voice) -- the hispanic and medieval aspects of Sephardic Jews culture, coming from the 15th century. Judaeo-Spanish songs and ballads. Keith Jarrett, the Köln Concert. Madeleine Peyroux. Careless Love. Toots Thielemans, One More for the Road. Steppenwolf, Born to be Wild. Love, Forever Changes. Good news: B.Leza still on in Lisbon (unexpectedly). Features of Lisbon/Portugal in the winter -- recent photos -- soon, little by little. 06-01-07 The Christmas songs and the typical illuminations at night wherever you happen to be! 03-12-06 J.S Bach, Two and Three Part Inventions, BWV 772 – 801 (Glenn Gould’s version is recommended). The new Pearl Jam’s album called “Pearl Jam”. Very good indeed! At their very best! The Canadian Alanis Morissette, with songs like “Thank you”, “Head over feet”, “Everything”, “Crazy”, ”You learn”, “That I would be good”, “Hands clean”, “Still”, “Uninvited”, “Let’s do it (let’s fall in love)” (a new version of a classic) and “Hand in my pocket”. Good --pop--sound! The new Chico Buarque’s album, so beautiful, “Carioca”. Maria Rita, Elis Regina’s daughter, has two good albums, “Maria Rita”, and “Maria Rita, Segundo”. A nice, pleasant, combination of different styles, music from Africa and Bach (imagine?), done by a German musician called Schweitzer – “Lambarena – Bach to Africa”. Take a look at new photos too. |

More of J.S. Bach: The Well Tempered Clavier (BWV 846 – 893). Pink Floyd, Wish You Were Here. Bob Dylan and The Band, recorded live in concert. Notice the remarkable versions of “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door”, “Up on Cripple Creek”, “I Shall Be Released”, “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down”, “Don’t Think Twice, It’s Alright”, “Just Like a Woman”, “The Weight”, “Like a Rolling Stone” and “Blowin’ in the Wind”. Cesária Évora, Rogamar. Pearl Jam in Lisbon -- September 4 and 5, this year. I have already got my ticket! From Brazil: João Gilberto (and one guitar only) singing Tom Jobim. Indeed go to B.Leza, in Lisbon, from midnight on (except on Mondays), to dance (live) music from Cabo Verde. It has a magical atmosphere squared under a wooden hand painted ceiling. Don’t wait too long, because in a few months they will go to another place. Soon there will be new photos to take a look at. 23-06-06
07-06-06 Carlos Santana and Roger Waters – Rock in Rio, Lisbon, June, 2. More of J.S. Bach: Cello Suits, particularly the first one, BWV 1007 (prelude). And the Violin Concerto BWV 1042 (the Adagio is in my mind since I’m aware of myself). F. Schubert, Impromptus, D 899 (note the beauty of the Andante). Try to get it recorded by Maria João Pires. Pearl Jam in Lisbon – September 4 and 5, this year. From Brazil, Chico Buarque. “O que será, que será?” is astonishing (and indeed every single song he has written). I was lucky for having seen him on the unique occasion he performed in Portugal (many, many, years ago); I’ve never forgotten! He is also one of the biggest 20th century poets in the Portuguese language. Speaking of music from Brazil, the duo -- Tom Jobim and Elis Regina -- singing “Águas de Março” (and more). Still from Brazil, this time the deep Brazil, Mestre Ambrósio (with all those amazing rhythms that come “somewhere” from the earth). Now, from the USA, try Velvet Underground. Find songs like “Stephanie Says”, “I’m Sticking With You”, “Sunday Morning”, “Femme Fatal”, “There She Goes Again”, “I’ll be Your Mirror”… (and more). Indeed go to B.Leza, in Lisbon, from midnight on (except on Mondays), to dance (live) music from Cabo Verde. It has a magical atmosphere squared under a wooden hand painted ceiling. There are now and then new photos to take a look at.
28-05-06 J.S.Bach again. Compare 1955 and 1981 Glenn Gould’s versions of Goldberg Variations (BWV 988). Frédéric Chopin, Nocturnes. Led Zeppelin again: The outstanding “Stairway to Heaven”. Joan Baez, “Diamonds and Rust”. Rolling Stones: songs like “Satisfaction”, “Jumpin’ Jack Flash”, “Sympathy for the Devil”, “She’s a Rainbow”, “Paint It, Black”, “Honky Tonk Woman” and “Angie” are indeed eternal. And they are also good to dance. Caetano Veloso, the experimental, old and almost unknown album Transa. First class!” If you happen to be in Florence, Michelangelo’s David; if you don’t, try hard to go there.
01-04-06 J.S. Bach, English Suite (nº 6) BWV 811 (specially Gavotte I & II). For those who like Metal, the lovely ballad “Nothing Else Matters” (Metallica). To relax in the evening, try Dido, for example, No Angel. Now and then watch again The Godfather (trilogy). Don’t miss the (Latin) charm and beauty of Appolonia and Michael Corleone. And, of course, the music and the fact that we have there “the three of them” together (M. Brando, De Niro and Al Pacino). Too much! "The place" to dance in Lisbon - B.Leza - live music from Cabo Verde.

flute in A minor, BWV 1013- Allemande; and 06 Invenciones Tres Partes
5 En Mi Bemol Mayor Bwv 791. "The place" to dance in Lisbon - B.Leza - live music from Cabo Verde. Enjoy!
